2. Purposive OR Deliberate Sampling-
● also known as judgement sampling
● The choice of sample items is made by the investigator himself, which as per his opinion are the best representative of the universe OR most useful to the purpose of the research
● Selection of sample items is not left on chance factors, it is made by choice
● Always make sure to describe your inclusion and exclusion criteria/rationale
Suitability-
● Some items in the Universe are of special significance and ought to be included in the sample
Merits-
● Flexible to allow the inclusion of a those items in the sample which are of specific special significance
● selection of items can be deliberately tuned to the purpose of study
● Very simple technique of selection of sample items
Demerits-
● Considerable possibility of personal bias
● Reliability of results become doubtful
