Learning Outcomes:-

Through this module, you will gain understanding on:-

1.    Properties of Arithmetic Mean (AM)

Properties of Arithmetic Mean (AM) -

 

1.    If some specific value is added to or subtracted from (change of Origin) all different items of X-Series, then the resultant average would also increase or decrease by the same specific value respectively.

●     Likewise, in the case of Multiplication and Division (Change in Scale)

2.    Sum of deviations of different items of series, when taken from Arithmetic mean, is always zero

3.    The sum of the squared deviations of the items from Arithmetic Mean (A.M) is minimum, which is less than the sum of the squared deviations of the items from any other values.

4.    The product of AM and the number of items on which mean is based is equal to the sum of all given items

5.    If each item of the Original Series is replaced by actual mean, then sum of these substitutions will be equal to the sum of individual items
