(A) Nature of Statistics

Science (✓)

Studies numerical data in a systematic manner

Art (✓)

Statistics relates to quantitative data to the real life problems

We are able to analyze and understand real life problems much better

 

(C) Limitation of Statistics

●     Does not study qualitative phenomena

●     Does not study numerical facts relating to any particular unit

●     Non-homogeneous data (of diverse qualities and kinds) cannot be compared

●     Only express broad tendencies, Statistical observations are not error free, Results are not valid under all conditions

●     Without understanding the circumstances and conditions under which conclusions have been drawn, the results may prove to be wrong

●     Those who are ignorant or unqualified about statistical methods cannot make sensible use of statistics
