Types of diagrammatic presentation of Data -

1. Geometric form ●     Bar diagrams ●     Pie Diagrams	2. Frequency diagrams ●     Histogram ●     Polygon ●     Ogive	3.  arithmetic line-graphs OR Time Series Graphs

 

●     Frequency Diagrams relate to frequency distribution

frequency distribution = series with Class Intervals, Simple Frequencies OR Cumulative Frequencies

 

(B-1) Histogram -

●     a Graphical presentation of frequency distribution of  a continuous series

 

★ Frequency Distribution, Continuous Series (Inclusive):-

●     Values of variable under consideration (class intervals) are shown on X-axis (horizontal)

●     Values of Frequencies corresponding to different class intervals are shown on Y-axis (vertically)

●     Width of Rectangles = size of class interval (may vary)

●     Height of Rectangles = Frequency of CI

●     Bars meet each other from both sides

Convert data, if given in form of inclusive series, into exclusive series

●     Two-dimensional diagrams ●     Both length and breadth of rectangles are considered for purpose of comparison	●     One-dimensional ●     Only length of bars is considered for purpose of comparison

 

Two types of Histograms -

1.    Histograms of Equal class intervals

2.    Histograms of Unequal class intervals

 

(B-1-i) Histograms of Equal class intervals -

●     Based on data with equal class intervals

●     Rectangles would have equal width

●     Length of rectangles would be different in proportion to frequencies of class intervals

(B-1-ii) Histograms of Unequal class intervals -

●     Based on data with unequal class intervals

●     Width of Rectangles would be different

●     Width of Rectangles would increase depending upon increase in size of class intervals and vice-versa

 

★ Before presenting data in graph form, frequencies of unequal Class intervals are adjusted.

 

1.    Note class with the smallest interval (minimum class size)

2.    Find Adjustment Factor for each CI

3.    Calculate Frequency Density
