     Explains the data which is already known

     Methods used for collection, presentation as well as analysis of data

     measures of Central tendencies

(Average Mean, Median, Mode)

     Measures of dispersion

(Mean deviation, standard deviation)

     Measures of correlation

     All such methods by which conclusions are drawn relating to the universe/population on the basis of given sample

     Involves comparison, testing and prediction of data, determining the cause and effect relationship, Hypothesis testing

     end result in the form of probability

     Used to explain the chances of occurrence of an event

     Attempts to reach conclusion about the population that extends beyond the data available
